Retrospektive Radu Gabrea
By Dorothea Holloway | June 15, 2015
Ron Holloway in KINO – German Film No: 51 (1992) über Rosen-Emil (1993) von Radu Gabrea mit Werner Stocker, Dana Vavrova:
Based on Georg Hermann’s turn-of-the-century novel, Radu Gabrea’s Rosen-Emil is about the soft underbelly of Berlin society just when this city was beginning to flex its muscles as a world capital – the milieu of the smalltime thief and gangster, of the con-man and gambler, of the floozy on the street and the harlot in the salons. The same milieu served Bertholt Brecht well as background for The Threepenny Opera. Rosen-Emil (Werner Stocker ) can charm many a lass right on the spot. But the one he loses his heart to is Lissy (Dana Vavrova ), also known as “Polen-Liese” and the uncrowned beauty of the girls of the night.
In der Radu-Gabrea-Retrospektive des filmkunst 66 wurde in Kooperation mit der laufenden Fassbinder-Ausstellung im Walter-Gropius-Bau Ein Mann wie Eva (1984) mit Eva Mattes, Lisa Kreuzer, Werner Stocker, Charles Regnier gezeigt – Kamera: Horst Schier, Screenplay: Gabrea und Laurens Straub – Straub ist auch Executive Producer. Radu und Ron waren befreundet.
